So Much Puppy Love

I’ve been busy adding new illustrations to my Etsy and Cafepress shops. They are also available through CKC Embroidery and Dog Mom Dog Designs.

  • The Anatolian Shepherd Dog is a guardian breed that originated in Turkey more than 6,000 years ago. He is well-suited to Turkey’s harsh climate and a nomadic lifestyle, he served shepherds as the frontline defense against predators.
  • The Basset Hound was originally developed in France as a trailer of small game that hunters could follow on foot. The Marquis de Lafayette brought Basset Hounds, known for their impeccable sense of smell, to the United States as a gift to President George Washington to use in his hunting expeditions.
  • The Bluetick Coonhound gets its name from a coat pattern, which is dark blue in color and covered in a ticking or mottled pattern. Working ability is very important to owners who prize the sturdy and athletic Bluetick for its skill in trailing and treeing raccoons and other small animals.

  • The Cardigan Welsh Corgi (the corgi with the tail) is the older of the two Corgi breeds. He is low set with moderately heavy bone and a deep chest. Originally used as a drover and farm dog, the breed is small and powerful, capable of great speed and endurance.
  • The Chinese Crested is a fine-boned, elegant toy dog that craves human companionship. The crested comes in two varieties; the Hairless and Powderpuff. The hairless has soft, silky hair on its head, tail and feet. Wherever the body is hairless the skin is soft and smooth. The Powderpuff is entirely covered with a double soft, straight coat. The two types often come from the same litter.
  • The Dandie Dinmont Terrier has a long, low body and “scimitar” tail, which looks like a curved sword, as well as his large soulful eyes and fluffy head of hair. Though small in stature, the Dandie has the character of a big dog, possessing confidence, intelligence and an independent nature.

  • The Pumi is an agile Hungarian herding breed. They are versatile stock dogs, equally adept at gathering, driving and keeping the stock under control. The breed has a long head with semi-erect ears, a whimsical expression and a tail that forms a circle over the back.
  • The Sussex Spaniel was one of the original nine breeds recognized by the AKC in 1884. It originated in the 18th century in the county of Sussex, England, where it was used as a field dog. At that time, the custom of hunting on foot made the Sussex a popular hunting companion and very useful in flushing and retrieving upland game.
  • The (Toy) Manchester Terrier was developed in England and originates from the Black and Tan Terrier, the oldest known terrier breed. They were bred to hunt rats and other small vermin and still retain that ability today. The cuddly house pet quickly turns into an efficient worker whether in the backyard or field when it detects the presence of a rodent.

Oodles and Oodles of Doodles

I recently opened a new Etsy shop featuring apparel with my designs. I am still “stocking” the store with designs… but never fear, if I have the design on my Flickr site, you can order it.

Opening the shop on Etsy allows me to sell directly to you, instead of just CafePress and Zazzle. It also allows me to sell a higher quality of merchandise that is handmade. The designs are hot pressed on the shirt with long-lasting and durable vinyl (by Dog Mom Dog Designs). The apparel is a heavy weight, ring-spun, and garment dyed. A variety of shirt and sweatshirt styles are available. If you have a special request, just let me know.

You can visit my new shop here.

Poodles, Poodles, Poodles

Okay, so just two poodles. I’ve just added poodle heads with “pet cuts” to my CafePress and Etsy sites.

The Poodle, though often equated to the beauty with no brains, is exceptionally smart, active and excels in obedience training. The breed comes in three size varieties, which may contribute to why Poodle is one of the most popular breeds according to AKC. Poodles can be a variety of solid colors.

Y(orshire Terrier) and X(oloitzcuintli)’s

I’ve been on a roll with illustrations to my Cafepress shop: The Yorshire Terrier and the Xoloitzcuintli. They are also available through CKC Embroidery and Dog Mom Dog Designs.

  • The Yorkshire Terrier is a big personality in a small package. Although they belong to the toy group, they are terriers by nature. Originally used to catch rats in clothing mills, in the beginning, they belonged to the working class not the aristocracy. I have the Yorkie available in show style and pet coat.
  • The Xoloitzcuintli is an ancient and rare breed from Mexico. It comes in three sizes: toy, miniature, and standard. There are also two varieties: hairless and coated. The Xolo is one of the world’s oldest breeds, there is evidence that they accompanied man on his first migrations across the Berring Straits. Xoloitzcuintli is pronounced show-low-eats-queen-tlee.

T(ibetan Spaniel), V(izsla) and W(ire Fox Terrier)’s

I’ve added more illustrations to my Cafepress shop: The Tibetan Spaniel, the Vizsla and the Wire Fox Terrier. They are also available through CKC Embroidery and Dog Mom Dog Designs.

  • The Tibetan Spaniel is a small, active and alert breed. Found in early Eastern art dating as far back as 1100 BC, where they were prized as pets and companions in Tibetan monasteries. Tibbies thrive on human companionship and need to be with their people.
  • The Vizsla is originally from Hungary and is also known as a Hungarian Pointer or Hungarian Vizsla. The Vizsla sports a beautiful golden rust-colored coat. They are natural hunters endowed with a good nose and above-average training ability.
  • The Wire Fox Terrier is active, friendly and playful and will spring into action at the slightest provocation. They make excellent companions and watchdogs for the home. They are predominately white with black and/or tan markings. Their coat is dense and wiry.
